On World Car Free Day, Beryl is running a 20% off ‘minute bundles’ promotion all day, redeemable with a code found in the app. This code can be applied in the promotions section of the app before purchasing a minute bundle.
Alternatively, until Saturday 30 September, riders across the BCP Council area can grab a free 30-minute journey on a Beryl pedal bike between 5am and 10am, seven days a week.
Bike tagging
Run by Dorset Police, going to a bike tagging event will get your bike’s details added to the national police-approved database as well as marking and protecting your bike with a free security marking kit.
These are usually promoted on Facebook, and the next events are taking place as below:
- Wednesday 20 September, 10am-12pm, BH2 bike racks, Bournemouth
- Friday 22 September, 2-3pm, Saxon Square, Christchurch
- Friday 22 September, 3-4pm, Churchill Gardens, Boscombe
- Saturday 23 September, 10.30am-12.30pm, Castlepoint Shopping Centre
Liftshare
If public transport or active travel isn’t an option on your way to work, a great way of saving money and carbon emissions is by sharing a lift. Liftshare is one of many platforms you can use to match and share your journey with those on a similar commute to you.
New members who register before Wednesday 4 October can unlock 500 bonus Nectar points at Esso when registering, or if you’re already a member, you can add a journey or update an existing one to be in with a chance of winning one of five £100 Love2Shop e-giftcards.
Train
While there are no train-specific promotions running this month the train is a fast, efficient and sustainable means of travel. Some ways you can save money on your fares include:
- buying tickets in advance,
- splitting your fare – there are several websites that help you do this,
- using a rail card when applicable,
- taking advantage of flexible commuting, and travelling outside of peak times, and
- travelling in groups for leisure trips.
